Mark Brnovich, Arizona Attorney General

Topics Covered: State Prosecuting of Traffickers, Prevalence Of The Issue In Arizona

Mark Brnovich currently serves as Arizona’s 26th Attorney General. He was first inaugurated in 2015, and again in 2019 after winning re-election. He’s spent most of his professional life serving as a prosecutor at the local, state, and federal levels. His wife Susan was confirmed by the United States Senate to serve as a U.S. District Judge for the District of Arizona. Brnovich has two teenage daughters and lives in Phoenix.

Dr. Dominique Roe-Sepowitz, Arizona State University

Topics Covered: How Local Children Are Recruited, Scope of the Issue Locally, What Can Be Done To Prevent Trafficking

Dominique Roe-Sepowitz is an associate professor in the School of Social Work at Arizona State University and she is the director of the ASU Office of Sex Trafficking Intervention Research. Roe-Sepowitz has her master’s degree and doctorate in social work and is a researcher, professor and a forensic social work practitioner. 

Jade Richard, Human Trafficking Survivor

Jade is a survivor-leader in the human trafficking recovery field and speaks from the perspective of a former 14-year-old victim. Jade was recovered through a police raid and restored her life at the Phoenix Dream Center. She now lives every day to help recover more victims and to see them set free and restored. 

Mark Doty, Phoenix Police Sergeant

Topics Covered: What Law Enforcement Is Doing, How To Report Trafficking, Keeping Your Family Safe

Sergeant Doty is a 27-year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department. He has been assigned to the Drug Enforcement Bureau’s Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit for the past 5 years and was a former HEAT Detective himself. Sergeant Doty supervises an undercover squad responsible for proactive enforcement related to sex and labor trafficking, customer demand reduction and the dismantling of illegal enterprises related to human trafficking.

Maria Fuentes, Arizona Governors Office of Youth Faith and Family

Topics Covered: What Government Is Doing, Getting Engaged In Legislation, Resources Available To Victims

Maria Cristina Fuentes was appointed as Director of the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family (GOYFF) by Governor Doug Ducey in November 2017.

Previous to Ms. Fuentes’ appointment, she served six years in the Administration of President George W. Bush in the U.S. Department of Labor and the U.S. Department of Justice. Fuentes also served in the White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, working to help states across the country develop and establish their own faith-based initiatives.

Skye and Brian Steele, Phoenix Dream Center and StreetLightUSA

Topics Covered: How To Support Local Children And Youth Being Trafficked, Volunteering, Mentoring and Reaching Trafficked Youth

With over 20 years together on both the domestic and global human trafficking scene, Brian and Skye Steele have built programs that have served over 3,000 young adult and over 2,000 child survivors of human trafficking. They bring a world-class approach to serving victims of human trafficking and helping them recover. Brian sits on the Arizona Governors Human Trafficking Council and on the Phoenix Mayor’s Human Trafficking Task Force.
