During the COVID-19 pandemic school shutdowns and the hurting economy meant that many more children across America faced hunger. This is especially the case with inner-city children living in poverty.
When this pressing need in the Phoenix metro grew, we knew we had to respond! Thankfully, the Albertsons Companies Foundation partnered with the Phoenix Dream Center to expand our innovative hunger relief and nutrition assistance programs!
Through their Nourishing Neighbors program, we will hand-deliver even more emergency food boxes to children in poverty, and to those living in food deserts where it is hard to find healthy food options.
Currently, we are developing an app where people can get immediate help and we will also drive directly into neighborhoods where children are going hungry and set up food distribution sites.
From food boxes to after school programs and connecting families to additional resources, what makes our outreaches special is that we aren’t asking for impoverished neighbors to come to us.

Thanks to the Albertsons Companies Foundation we are acquiring a fleet of refrigerated trucks to reach marginalized communities throughout the state of Arizona!
